Our October Wine of the Month, the Sombrero Uco Valley Malbec 2021 is an amazing wine, sourced from high-altitude vineyards in Gualtallary. This is the same place where Catena sources their Mundus Bacillus, as well as El Enemigo's Gran Enemigo, which both command huge prices of $300 a bottle! Wines from Gualtallary have always been known for their intense blue fruit notes, while retaining excellent freshness and acidity due to the high elevation. For $10.98, the Sombrero Uco Valley showcases these heritage vineyards with excellent depth, glossy dark berry fruit, subtle wood, and a fresh finish.
"This shows ripe plums and blueberries with hints of lilacs, violets and light spices. Medium-to full-bodied with a soft, creamy texture, firm tannins and a velvety mouth-feel. Delicious fruit. Firm finish with hints of chocolate and blue flowers. Drink or hold." James Suckling, 93 Points
