One of the smallest AVAs in California, Arroyo Seco also boasts one of the longest growing seasons. The warm, sunny days are followed by chilly afternoon winds that sweep across the Salinas Valley from Monterey Bay. This dramatic daily cooling keeps the grapes on the vines well into the season, intensifying varietal character while keeping acid levels high. Pinot Noir thrives here, getting enough sunshine to fully ripen yet also benefitting from cool coastal influences. Hahn, J Lohr, and La Crema all have vineyard here, but we think our Vineyard Block Estate is the best of them all, under $20 a bottle!
"This Pinot Noir from Arroyo Secco is ripe and concentrated, offering a vivid mix of kirsch, raspberry, dark berry and cherry tart flavors. Mineral accents push through the mid-palate gaining depth and focus on a persistent, very long finish." The Wine Buyer, 93 Points
